First Day JK

One proud (and yes, a little sad) mama here who saw her baby off to his first day of junior kindergarten today. I`m sharing a card I made for him to commemorate the occasion. I tried a new technique today using inktense pencils for the colouring of the bus, blending the yellow and orange (or at least I tried to!). The first day sentiment on the cork is from Elle`s Studio and was perfect for the card. I also fussy cut the text bubble expressions from a paper from the Max line from Bella Blvd. I took some poetic licence here and used the `Just Kidding` JK text bubble to represent `Junior Kindergarten`instead.

Supplies: Cardstock; PP - Bella Blvd (Max), Elles Studio (Everyday Moments); PL Card - Becky Higgins Project Life Childhood minikit - Wellington edition by Lori Whitlock; Stamps - Clearly Besotted (Sentiment), Basic Grey/HeroArts (bus); ink - Memento Tuxedo Black; Cork - Elles Studio

Cheers to a new school year!

30 Days of Lists

I'm participating for the first time in a 30 Days of Lists challenge. It's a journaling challenge run twice a year featuring daily list prompts and the next go round starts September 1. I'm a big list maker and like the idea of daily prompts to do some creative journaling.  I've got to decide now on some kind of album / format / notebook for capturing my lists. Looking forward to see how this goes....

Christmas in August

While jingle bells are still a little ways off, I did find time this month to scrap some Christmas pictures. I loved the Lawn Fawn line Peace, Love, Joy that came out last year and finally got a chance to put it to use. I started with our family picture from last Christmas which we used for our family Christmas cards. The journaling idea - giving the number stats to tell the story - came from an idea from Angie Lucas' Grammar Free Journaling class at Big Picture Classes.

And as a bonus, I created a few holiday card embellishments with the triangle scraps left after I created the chevrons on my layout. Here's an example:

Summer Remembered

Just a few days left now until the first day of school. My little guy will be starting Junior Kindergarten. How the time has flown! I'm totally not ready to send him off to school yet. How do you prepare yourself for a moment like this?! I'm sure I'll come to welcome the school send-off in the years to come, but for now I'm a little sad that these preschool years are coming to an end.

One thing for sure, though, is that we've had a great summer, packed full of fun times. This summer saw our first family visit to a major amusement park, a visit to Niagara Falls, spending time with good friends, and lots more. Lots of great memories and moments for me to scrap and hopefully lots of great experiences and good memories for the little guy before he heads off to JK.

Today, I'm sharing two of my favorite layouts from this summer. The first is from my son's first amusement park ride and the second is from our visit to a small zoo/farm where you can feed the animals. The little guy loved both these outings and was all smiles both days.

For this first layout I mainly used the Family Reunion theme kit from Echo Park along with some elements from past Freckled Fawn embellishment kits:

Inspiration for the layout came from this great sketch at Boys Rule Scrapbook Kits. I just recently discovered this kit club and am loving their bi-monthly boy-themed kits. Perfect for me given 90% of my scrapbooking is about boys - namely one little guy!

Supplies: PP - Echo Park (Family Reunion), Studio Calico (Grid Paper), Crate Paper (Boys Rule); wood veneer and chevrons - Freckled Fawn (embellishment kits); Thickers - ?; Die cut - October Afternoon; Chipboard - Bo Bunny (Our Lil Monster)

My second layout was inspired by an ombre challenge and sketch from Aly Dosdall as part of the Superstashbusters class I took this month at Big Picture Classes. This class rocked just as much as Stashbusters Anonymous which I took earlier this year. I highly recommend these classes and am hoping to see another stashbusters installment down the road. If you are interested, Stashbusters Anonymous is currently available at BPC as a self-paced class. Part of what rocks in Aly's workshops is the interaction with Aly and class members on the forum and in the galleries, but even with a self paced stashbusters, the handouts, videos, tips, challenges, etc. would still provide lots of great content and inspiration.

Supplies: PP - Little Yellow Bicycle (Just Because), October Afternoon (Focus), Studio Calico, American Crafts, Elle's Studio, Enamel dots - Simple Stories (DIY), Basic Grey; Camera, stars and chipboard heart - Freckled Fawn; 2x2 squares - We R Memory Keepers; Thickers - ; PL cards - Becky Higgins Project Life (Heidi Swapp)

Hope you all have been enjoying your summers. Thanks for stopping by!

Kerri

Welcome!

Spring is here,a time for new beginnings, and feeling very inspired and completely motivated following this past April (my most productive month of scrapping ever) I thought it would be a great time to start a new blog. So welcome!

I love scrapbooking and papercrafting in general. I also love the online communities I have found with others that share my love for this hobby. Big Picture Classes tops that list for me.

Currently at BPC, I am enrolled in a year long course, Inspired Scrapbooking, with Stacy Julian. In April I also took Stashbusters Anonymous with Aly Dosdall. Both of these have been huge motivators and sources of inspiration and the support, feedback and encouragement received when sharing my layouts in the class galleries is wonderful. I highly recommend them!

Here's the most recent layout I've created about my son. This was inspired by a sketch from Kelly Purkey for her latest Sketchbook class over at Studio Calico, another great online community I have have taken some classes with.

Looking forward to more inspiration and sharing and we'll see how this blog thing goes....

Thanks for stopping by.
