Summer Remembered

Just a few days left now until the first day of school. My little guy will be starting Junior Kindergarten. How the time has flown! I'm totally not ready to send him off to school yet. How do you prepare yourself for a moment like this?! I'm sure I'll come to welcome the school send-off in the years to come, but for now I'm a little sad that these preschool years are coming to an end.

One thing for sure, though, is that we've had a great summer, packed full of fun times. This summer saw our first family visit to a major amusement park, a visit to Niagara Falls, spending time with good friends, and lots more. Lots of great memories and moments for me to scrap and hopefully lots of great experiences and good memories for the little guy before he heads off to JK.

Today, I'm sharing two of my favorite layouts from this summer. The first is from my son's first amusement park ride and the second is from our visit to a small zoo/farm where you can feed the animals. The little guy loved both these outings and was all smiles both days.

For this first layout I mainly used the Family Reunion theme kit from Echo Park along with some elements from past Freckled Fawn embellishment kits:

Inspiration for the layout came from this great sketch at Boys Rule Scrapbook Kits. I just recently discovered this kit club and am loving their bi-monthly boy-themed kits. Perfect for me given 90% of my scrapbooking is about boys - namely one little guy!

My second layout was inspired by an ombre challenge and sketch from Aly Dosdall as part of the Superstashbusters class I took this month at Big Picture Classes. This class rocked just as much as Stashbusters Anonymous which I took earlier this year. I highly recommend these classes and am hoping to see another stashbusters installment down the road. If you are interested, Stashbusters Anonymous is currently available at BPC as a self-paced class. Part of what rocks in Aly's workshops is the interaction with Aly and class members on the forum and in the galleries, but even with a self paced stashbusters, the handouts, videos, tips, challenges, etc. would still provide lots of great content and inspiration.
